Brenda Younse Stelly

Brenda Younse Stelly, age 80, of Sulphur, La. passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021. Brenda was born July 2, 1941 in Monroe, La. to her parents, Thomas Younse Sr. & Mildred Mills Younse.

Brenda was a native of West Monroe, La. and received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Northeast Louisiana University. She later moved to Southwest Louisiana and received her Master’s degree in Education from McNeese State University.  Brenda was a teacher at Maplewood Elementary and Middle Schools for over 30 years where she later retired. She enjoyed playing Bridge/Cards with her friends and  also enjoyed tending to her flowers and yard overlooking the water. However, Mamaw LIVED to follow all four of her grandsons’ sporting events and being with her family. Brenda was a caring and fun loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Brenda is preceded in death by her loving husband, Preston Stelly Sr.; her parents; her brother, Tommy Younse; and her sister, Susan Younse Brown and husband David.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stacey Quick and husband, Scott of Iowa, La.; her son, Jay Stelly and wife, Chrissy of Sulphur, La.; her grandsons, Dillon Carroll and wife, Carlee, Taggert Stelly, Greyson Stelly, and Jay Michael Stelly; her great-grandson, Harrison Carroll; her nephews, Ty Younse and wife, Leslie, Brian Younse and wife, Amanda. 

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with a Celebration of Life Service at 5:30 p.m. Cremation was entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, Holly Hill, Heart of Hospice, and Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home for the compassion and care they provided to Brenda.
