Nursing was more than a career, it was her passion, dedicating her life to the care of others. She worked as a Cardiovascular Nurse, specializing in Cardiac Care, Critical Care, and ICU. Even in the most stressful of times, she calmed each patient with her kind bedside manner and spirit, always pairing it with a smile. She welcomed the opportunity to become a traveling nurse, traveling from Louisiana to Alaska.

Sondra was a lifelong devout Catholic, striving to serve others as Christ served us. She supported numerous charities and Catholic organizations. When her best friend Linda was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she quit her job and became her full-time caretaker. Linda’s family is forever grateful for the additional ten years they received with their loved one.

In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, becoming quite an accomplished artist, filling her home with beautiful paintings, roses being her favorite subject.

She was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021 by her parents, Millard John Chaisson Sr. and Gertrude Chesson Blanchard; a brother, Millard John Chaisson Jr; and her maternal grandmother, Letha Thibodeaux Landry.

Those left to cherish her memory: her baby sister, Francia K. Chaisson, and many friends and former patients.

The family will welcome friends at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m. until time of service, with a Rosary to be prayed at 11:30. A funeral will begin at 12 p.m. with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Lake Charles.
