Neysa Helen Johnson

Neysa Helen Johnson, 68, passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021 meeting her loved ones in Heaven for another game of cards. 

She was a native of DeQuincy and had been a longtime resident of Sugarland, Texas before returning to Sulphur 17 years ago to be near her grandchildren. Neysa was a member of Maplewood First Baptist Church where she was very involved in Operation Christmas Child as well as other ministries. She enjoyed trips to Disney World with her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and had volunteered for many years at Sugar Mill Elementary, Maplewood Middle School, and Sulphur High School.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Thomas Johnson of Sulphur; her children, Shannon Angelique Perkins of Sulphur, Sheryl Christine Meek and husband, Barry of Westlake, and Thomas Scott Johnson Jr. of Conroe, Texas; her siblings, Loretta Calderon and Pete Maddox; grandchildren, Julian Johnson, Cassie Odom-Noe, Alex Odom, Macey Meek, Natalie DeArmas, Jennifer DeArmas, Melanie DeArmas, Chearia Arimond, Cyler Simmons, and Cayomi Farrell; two great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Perkins and Isabel Leon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Hilda Maddox; siblings, Aubrey Maddox, Rose Lee, Betty Aldridge, Elbert Maddox, and Mavis Broussard. 

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Blocker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service Sunday in the funeral home.
