Family was of the upmost importance to Ernie and spending time with them was priority. He enjoyed bar-b-queuing and boiling crawfish for family and friends.

Ernie was an avid New Orleans Saints Fan – win or lose. He enjoyed being outdoors and riding grandchildren on his tractor. He loved joking and making people laugh, you never knew what he was going to say next.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years and the love of his life, Tammy Sue; six children, Steven (Cam), Cody (Ashley), Christi (Chad), Felicia (Travis), Amanda (Tommy), and Jamie Jo (Cody); 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren with one on the way. He will also be missed by numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ellen Cahanin; and his Aunt Patsy.
