Statement on threat of violence at Lake Charles College Prep on Nov. 1:

“An anonymous post to social media to use a gun at Lake Charles College Prep was referred to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for investigation by school administrators. While an investigation into who might have posted the threat was underway, appropriate steps were taken to provide security for students and staff at the school on Monday.

Some parents chose to have students remain at home. Some parents checked students out during the morning hours. Classroom instruction and other school-related activities continued normally throughout the day.

Henry Mancuso, Interim Superintendent for the Charter Schools of Lake Charles, stated that, “it is unfortunate that an individual or a group of people can so easily disrupt the normal parts of life. We take all threats seriously and will fully cooperate with the Sheriff’s Office. The safety and security of everyone is our top priority.”

He expressed appreciation to local law enforcement as well as the hope that those responsible for the
threat will soon be identified and apprehended.
