DERIDDER — The DeRidder Dragons, despite losing possession of the Hooper Trophy, still have a lot to play for.
That begins at 7 p.m. Friday night at Cecil Doyle Memorial Stadium in DeRidder as the Dragons (4-3, 0-1) will meet up with the Bolton Bears (1-6, 0-2) in District 3-4A action.
Though losing to Leesville, 49-41, last week stung, especially giving up a 2-touchdown advantage early in the second half, the Dragons proved they could move the ball offensively, gaining almost 400 yards of total offense, 219 rushing and 172 passing.
Running back Ronnie Crosby was responsible for 75 yards rushing and 90 yards receiving to go along with four total touchdowns, which included a game-opening 96-yard kickoff return for a score.
Additionally, Darian Castille ran for over 100 yards, while Alex Archield had two rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Ethan Maples also threw for 172 yards and two TDs.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Dragons will need to return to form against a very athletic Bolton team which can score from anywhere on the field. Bolton teams always feature speed with solid skills players.
After playing Bolton, DeRidder will take on Peabody in Week 9, before closing the regular season at home against Tioga.
