Shirley M. Doucet, 76, passed away Oct. 14, 2021, at her residence.

She was born in Gueydan and lived in Moss Bluff for the past 35 years. She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, loved ceramics and collecting chickens in her younger years.

She survived by her husband of 57 years, Alden “AJ” Doucet of Moss Bluff; brother, Larry Martin of Egan; sisters, Elaine Brown of Rayne; Dorothy Stewart of Urania and Jeanette Dodge of Marksville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lena Mae Martin and her brother, Charles Martin.

Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. and resume Tuesday 8 a.m. until time of service at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff located at 150 Bruce Circle, Moss Bluff, LA. 70611.  Funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Istre Cemetery in Mermentau, La.
