Jay Ralph Jacobs

Jay Ralph Jacobs, 62, of Lake Charles passed away on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021 in his residence.

Mr. Jacobs was born on March 24, 1959 in Lake Charles where he was raised and was a 1977  graduate of Lake Charles High School. He furthered his education at McNeese State University before joining the United States Air Force.  Mr. Jacobs made a 23  year career in the military in communications which allowed him to travel the world and see what other countries had to offer.  Following his retirement from the military, he settled in Dayton, Ohio and received a bachelor’s degree in education at Wright State University.  In 2009, he returned to Lake Charles and reenrolled at McNeese State University to earn his master’s degree in education.  Upon graduation, he taught in Calcasieu Parish for several years before retiring.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Jacobs of Little Rock, Ark.; sister, Brenda Hardy of Lake Charles; brother, Jeff Jacobs (Tara) of Little Rock, Ark.; nephews, Evan Hardy of Lake Charles and Aaron Jacobs of Little Rock, Ark.; and a niece, Emma Jacobs also of Little Rock, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Jacobs.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
