JENNINGS — Curtis Deville scored four touchdowns and the Iowa Yellow Jackets remained undefeated with a 56-19 District 4-3A victory over the Jennings Bulldogs in a District 4-3A game Friday night.

Deville who rushed for 227 yards on five carries and had 67 receiving yards, all in the first half as Iowa (7-0, 2-0) finished with 585 rushing yards and 150 passing yards. His effort overshadowed the effort by Jennings running back-turned-quarterback Trevor Etienne who ran for 250 yards and scored three big-play touchdowns on runs of 60, 98 and 36 yards. Etienne threw for 77 yards.

Koltin LeBleu finished 5-for-6 passing for 150 yards, 95 rushing yards, and three touchdowns. He ran for another.

“Curtis is definitely the guy we are obviously trying to get the ball to,” said Iowa head coach Tommy Johns. “Koltin LeBleu did a great job spreading the ball around tonight, and I thought McQuinton Montgomery and Christian Malbreaux stepped up for us tonight. Our offensive line blocked great and it was a total team effort.”

Deville wasted little time getting the scoring. The first of his touchdowns came on a 74-yard run with 7:54 to play in the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets went ahead 14-0 when Lebleu threw a 25-yard touchdown to Lucious Guillory.

Etienne scored on the first play of the second quarter on a 60-yard run for the Bulldogs to trail 14-7.

Iowa answered with the next three touchdowns. Deville scored on a 75-yard run to increase the Iowa lead to 21-7. The next score was a Lebleu 67-yard touchdown pass to Deville. That was followed by a 62-yard run by Montgomery to give Iowa a 36-7 lead with 3:42 left in the second quarter.

Jennings (2-5, 1-1) was pushed back to its 1-yard line, but a 98-yard touchdown run by Etienne cut the lead to 36-13. Iowa answered with a Deville’s fourth touchdown of the half on a 58-yard run.

The Bulldogs scored the first points of the second half when Etienne scored his third touchdown on a 36-yard run.

The Yellow Jackets returned the favor with a LeBleu 73-yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter, which was followed by a LeBleu 50-yard pass to Christian Malbreaux for the final score.

Jennings finished with 383 rushing yards. ReJohn Zeno had 41 yards receiving on three receptions.

“I’m proud of our whole team as the coaching staff had a great game plan coming in and the kids executed,” Johns said. “We knew coming in we needed to jump on top of them quick if we were going to win this thing, as we did, as you can tell they are obviously one score away with a quarterback like they have.

“It was a great total team effort from top to bottom.”
