Kinder man killed in motorized scooter accident

A man riding a motorized scooter was killed after being stuck from behind by a pickup truck on La. 26 early Thursday.

State Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle fatal crash around 4:30 a.m. on La. 26, about two miles east of La. 377 in Allen Parish.

Police said 41-year-old Casey Randall Reeves was operating a 1989 Yamaha Razz without lights when he was struck from behind by a 2012 Dodge pickup truck.

Reeves, who was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet, was ejected from the scooter and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, who has not been named, was properly restrained and was not injured.

A toxicology sample was obtained from the pickup truck driver and submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
