Georgia  Faye Ivy

Georgia Faye Ivy, 97, of Lake Charles, passed away on Oct. 9, 2021.

Georgia was born to George and Dora McKee on Dec. 17, 1923. Although she was born in Camp Hoy, La., and graduated from DeRidder High School, Georgia spent the majority of her life in Lake Charles, La. She was a woman who held many accomplishments under her belt. She was a graduate of Matthew’s Business College with a degree in accounting. She was the first woman to be president of a labor union in Louisiana, and the Assistant Parish Treasurer for Calcasieu Parish at the Lake Charles courthouse for 35 years.

Georgia had many passions in life that included traveling to visit family and attending her son-in-law’s football games, making her family’s favorite gumbo, and caring for her beloved dog, Cotton. She was a member of the Baptist faith and past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.

She is welcomed into Heaven by her parents.

She will be missed by her daughter; Norberta Haffner and husband George Haffner of Belton, Texas, grandson; Kevin Haffner of Dallas, Texas, granddaughter; Kristin Haffner of Belton, Texas, and great-granddaughter; Audrey Haffner of Fort Worth, Texas.

Graveside service will be held at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles, La., on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at 2 p.m.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Georgia’s name to the American Cancer Society.
