Gerry Stine McCallum

Gerry Stine McCallum, 99, of Sulphur passed away on October 9th at home surrounded by loved ones.

Gerry was born on February 8, 1922 in Sulphur, LA. Over the years she lived in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1940 then went to work for Union Sulphur Co until she married and started her family. She later went to work at Stine lumber and retired in 1985. Gerry was a member of Henning United Methodist Church in Sulphur where she married her husband, Walter Carlton McCallum 69 years ago. She volunteered regularly at Care Help and Henning Memorial Church. She was on the Sulphur Women’s Bowling Association bowling league where they won the 1948-49 season. She also loved to play bridge every week with friends and card games like three to thirteen with her granddaughters.

Gerry is preceded in death by her husband Walter, her son Barry, and her brothers Kyle and JW Stine.

She is survived by her son Brent McCallum and wife, Cindy; granddaughters, Mallory McCallum, Rebecca McCallum, and Jennifer McCallum Bagnall and husband, Alex; a sister Dorothy Byerly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Gerry’s funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Henning United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center (The Branch) with Rev. Juliette Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
