Jacob “Jay” Jerome Ellender passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at the age of 79. He was a native of Sulphur, La., graduating from Sulphur High School in 1961. Jay served his country and was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

He was a resident of Moss Bluff for 38 years. As a member of the Masonic Lodge in Moss Bluff and Sulphur, Jay devoted much of his time volunteering for charity events. He will be remembered for his love of cooking and feeding those in need, especially the elderly and homebound. Jay was declared the Champion of multiple Chili Cookoffs.
