Richard “Dick” Robert Myers

Richard Robert “Dick” Myers passed peacefully into the arms of his lord and savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 7, 2021. Born in Fort Monroe, Va. on June 18, 1949 to Robert Vincent Myers and Lou Evalyn Brindley Myers. Dick, a fine Warrior band drummer, graduated from Oakdale High School in 1967. He went on to attend LSU earning a Bachelor of Science in Forestry, M.B.A., McNeese State University, along with several other certifications including Wildlife Biology. Retired in 2016, he spent his entire career with Boise Cascade (now PCA). Dick served as a dedicated member of the Louisiana Forestry Association, The Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce (President, 2008), Lions Club, and Ducks Unlimited, etc.  An avid birder with a life-long love of nature and scouting achieved the status of Eagle Scout and remained actively involved in The Boy Scouts of America Calcasieu Area Council.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, La. and dedicated time to Kairos Prison Ministry.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Myers; children, Mary Evalyn Myers, Richard Hanes Myers, Billy Craig and wife, Angela Craig, John Craig and wife, Shana Craig; grandchildren, Brody Jackson, Hayden Myers, Cameron Craig, Reagan Craig, Lane Craig, and Courtney Craig; great-grandchildren, Tate Jackson and Weston Jackson; and siblings, Melissa Myers, Ann Myers Dartez and husband, Charles Dartez, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Bob and Lou Evalyn Myers and brother, Mike Myers.

Visitation will be held in DeRidder at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 5 – 8 p.m. Service on Thursday, Oct. 14 at First United Methodist Church will be held at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family invites you to make a donation to The Boy Scouts of America Calcasieu Area Council, The Methodist Children’s Home or to a charity of your choice.
