DEVILLE  —  There’s nothing better than building a little positive momentum heading into district play.
The DeRidder Dragons dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage Thursday night as they decimated the Buckeye Panthers in non-district play, 34-0.
With the win, the Dragons improved to 4-2 on the season, having won their last two games entering district play next week against rival Leesville in the annual Hooper Trophy Game. It will also be the 100th meeting all time against the Wampus Cats.
DeRidder dominated from the beginning, taking a 7-0 lead on a 13-yard TD run from Darian Castille, which was followed by the PAT from Jose Mijares.
The Dragons took a 13-0 lead into the intermission thanks to a 30-yard rumble by leading rusher Ronnie Crosby.
Crosby scored the Dragons’ next two touchdowns on runs of 1 and 17 as they built a 27-0 lead in the fourth quarter.
DeRidder scored one more time as Ryker Stewart reeled in a 25-yard TD pass from Emmitt Going to round out the final score.
Crosby finished the game with 200 yards on 23 carries with three TDs, while Castille rushed for 93 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown.
