Iris Ann Walters Slaydon

Iris Ann Walters Slaydon, 93, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021.

She was born on March 23, 1928 in Smith County, Mississippi to Porter LeMore Walters and Minnie Alice Napier Walters. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Longville for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and bird watching.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Janet Slaydon Owens and husband Dr. Michael D. Owens of Baton Rouge, LA; son, William Michael Slaydon and wife Mary Ellen Slaydon of Westlake, LA; grandchildren, Matt Slaydon and wife Alex, Jason Slaydon and wife Catherine, Megan Lanier and husband B.J., Jenny Slaydon, Meredith Owens, Joey Owens and wife Hannah, Lee Peck, and Matt Peck and wife Crystal; great grandchildren, Benjamin Slaydon, Ada Kate Slaydon, Cora Owens, Vivienne Lanier, Makynzie Peck, and Kylen Peck; great great grandchild, Korbin Kyle Peck; brother, Norman Napier Walters and wife Patsy Walters of Laurel, MS; and sister, Joan Anell Walters Geddie and husband Vern Geddie of Ellisville, MS.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Gerald Slaydon.

Her funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 1 p.m. Rev. Corey Townsley will officiate. Burial will take place in Magnolia Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff Sunday from 11 a.m.until the start of the service.
