Damani Rone’t James

Damani Rone’t James was born on October 4, 1999, to the late Damon E. James and Renita L. Payne-James in Alexandria, Louisiana. He departed this life on September 24, 2021. Damani grew up in DeQuincy, Louisiana. He accepted Christ at an early age and was Christened at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. Damani received his First Communion, Confirmation and was quite active at Our Lady of LaSalette Church in DeQuincy.  He received his education in DeQuincy beginning from head start, Snoopy’s Den, to his graduating senior year at DeQuincy High School with his senior class of 2018.

Damani was known to be a hugger and very affectionate. He loved his family, friends, and community. He enjoyed going to church and football (building a brotherhood and making memories with his teammates). He loved gaming with his twin Amani ,cousins and friends on the weekends. He was outgoing and made friends very easily.  Damani was truly always willing to help anyone in need. Damani had a very distinctive, loud “family” laugh which could be heard often and all over!!!

Damani was preceded in death by his father, Damon E. James and fraternal grandfather, Eugene James Jr.

The memories of life will continue on through his mother Renita L. Payne-James;  twin brother, Amani Gene’ James; maternal grandparents, Walter Leon & Retha M. (Pullard)Payne Jr.; paternal grandmother, Ms. Yolanda Robinson James-Kelly; Godparents, Preston Jr. and Lena (Dee-Dee) Chenier, Romona Grant, Timothy Ballou, and Rogers James. Damani also leaves to cherish his memories…on his maternal side he leaves aunts and uncles; Charles A. Payne, Brigitte M. Payne, Walter L. (Shayla) Payne III, Lena D. (Preston Jr.) Chenier, Howard C. Payne, and LeQuita C. (Elton) LeDay.  On his paternal side he leaves a host of great aunts and uncles, relatives and friends. He also  leaves Alexis Faithe Gentry, his truly forever special person to lovingly cherish his memory forever.  Damani’s Flight will be felt by many whose lives and hearts he touched as he lived.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at Bible Baptist Church, DeQuincy, LA.  Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.
