Five people were injured in an explosion at Westlake Chemical late Monday night.

Louisiana State Police spokesman Sgt. Derek Senegal said five contract workers on a turnaround shift were taken to a hospital; three of them were released as of Tuesday afternoon.

A fire at the site is now out, and the cause of the blast is under investigation
