Robert Dale Brockes

Robert Dale Brockes, 74, of Lake Charles passed away at 2:27 PM on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in his residence.

Mr. Brockes was born on November 4, 1946 in St. Louis, MO.  After graduating high school, he joined the US Army and retired after 22 years.  He served with the infantry during the Vietnam War.  Following retirement, he began driving trucks across country and worked for Pepsi for 5 years.  Mr. Brockes was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

He was a member of The High Low Seniors League at Petro Bowl and enjoyed grilling on the pit with friends and family.  Mr. Brockes will be remembered for his kind heart who was known to have never met a stranger.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ethel Simmons; his daughter, Monica Smith (David); step son, John “Duke” Simmons (Brandi) brother, David Brockes (Jane); grandchildren, Gayle Benoit, Shelby Smith, and Garret Smith; great grandchildren, Harper Benoit, Grayson Benoit, Clarabeth Benoit, and Charli Oquin; an aunt, Wilma Lindsey; and cousin, Larry Lindsey (Lillie).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Robert Brockes and a son, Brian Brockes.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Friendship Baptist Church.  The Rev. Nathan Nazworth will officiate.  Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  A gathering will begin in the church from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Southern Home Health, Evangeline Home Health, and to Dori with Heart of Hospice for their compassion and care given to Mr. Brockes and his family during his last days.
