Carol Denise Delaney Savoy was born Aug. 29, 1958, in Lake Charles, La., to Harold and Lavonna Delaney. Alongside her two sisters, Donna (Perkins) and Vicky (Shackelford), she grew up on the close-knit community of Grand Lake and attended  Grand Lake High School, Class of 1977.

It was there that she built her life and raised her three children, Delana (Jason) Fassler, Lauren (Chris) Morrot and Phillip Savoy. In her later years Carol was employed by Calcasieu Parish School Board in the cafeterias of several local schools. Her favorite part of the job was bringing smiles to the faces of the students by decorating the cafeteria and dressing up for holidays. She showed her love for her students daily with her dedication and kind words as they came through the serving line.

As anyone who ever met Carol knows, her children, nieces, and grandchildren brought her immense pride and she considered them to be her greatest legacy. One of her favorite responses to news of one of her granddaughter’s accomplishments was “Of course! She takes after me!”

Carol faced her cancer diagnosis with optimism and determination, never wavering in her resolve or in her gratitude to the doctors and nurses who so skillfully treated her and to the friends and family who so lovingly cared for her. The family would also like to express sincere thanks to everyone who has played a part in her care and specifically Randy Perkins who worked tirelessly maintaining and improving her home and yard.

Carol was welcomed into Heaven on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, by her parents. She will be missed dearly and remembered fondly for her quick wit, compassion, and generosity.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.

The family will welcome friends Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at The Vineyard Church on Gulf Hwy beginning at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m.
