Which team scored the biggest win?

WA: Sam Houston opened District 3-5A play with a 16-10 win over winless New Iberia. Freshman quarterback Gavin Stout threw for 260 yards in his first start and wide receiver Dylan Abshire had 150 receiving yards and a touchdown.

RA: Basile fell into a 19-point hole Friday night but rallied to win its first game and District 4-1A opener over Hamilton Christian by a single point. Quarterback Luc Johnson’s lone completion was the winner, a 14-yard TD pass to Jared Thomas as time ran out.

Which small schools player had the best performance?

WA: East Beauregard’s Caleb Johnson ran for 230 yards and three TDs, caught a pass for a 47-yard TD and scored four 2-point conversions in the Trojans’ 64-50 win over Elton.

RA: Rosepine’s Cole Donahue had a season-high four catches for 121 yards for the undefeated Eagles, including three TD receptions. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound, senior tight end is averaging 28 yards a catch with four TDs in his last two games.

Which big schools player had the best game?

WA: Logan Trahan ran for 192 yards and two TDs to lead St. Louis to a 24-22 win over Washington-Marion.

RA: Jennings blasted Iota for six TDs and a pair of 2-point conversions to lead the Bulldogs to their first win and avoid an 0-4 start. He ran for a season-high 243 yards on 21 carries and caught five passes for 29 yards. The last time the Bulldogs started 0-3 they reached the Class 3A state championship game in 2019.
