Gertrude Marie Chesson “Gertie” Breaux of Lake Charles passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021. She was born on March 14, 1958 in Lake Charles, La. to Marshall and Angeline Chesson.

Gertie loved taking care of her husband, Austin, and her little dog, Buddy.  She enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her flowers.  One of her favorite things to do was driving to Kinder to eat and play at Coushatta Casino.  She loved her niece, Anna May who was like a sister, and her true sister, Sue, as well as her step family, Austin’s children, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Austin J. Breaux; Elaine Broussard, Lionel and Lydell Breaux, Twila Breaux McFarland; her sister, Helena Sue Breaux; and her brother, Leroy Chesson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James, Marshall, Johnny, Walter, Joseph and Allen Chesson; and her sister, Patricia Chesson Williams.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021 at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 383 Fletcher Road, Westlake, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.  The Rev. Marcus Wade will officiate.  Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
