A Lake Charles woman has been arrested for drug possession after authorities were called because her passenger was found dead inside the vehicle.

Lt. R. Estrello of the Orange (Texas) Police Department said officers were dispatched to the Studio 6 hotel in Orange early Friday morning in response to an unresponsive male.

Estrello said when officers arrived, they found the man in the passenger seat of a truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, Amanda Hardy of Lake Charles, said the two were traveling from Louisiana and said she thought he was asleep.

An autopsy will be conducted on the man.

Hardy was found in possession of a controlled substance and arrested.

The name of the deceased, also from Louisiana, will not be released until a next of kin is notified.
