Roger Wayne “Pete” Van Winkle

Roger Wayne “Pete” Van Winkle, 73, of Moss Bluff, passed into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at his residence. Pete was born February 2, 1948 to his late parents, Bevil and Capitola Van Winkle in DeQuincy, LA. He proudly served our country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He worked for many years for the Union Pacific Railroad where he retired after 22 years. He loved fishing, playing golf, and all sports in general and was extremely competitive. After retirement, he worked for Mallard Golf Course for over 20 years. He was a lifelong fan of LSU Football.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Van Winkle; one son, Owen Anderson “Scotty” Scott, Jr. (Kirsten) of McHenry, MS; two daughters, Page Hyatt and Courtney Van Winkle, both of Moss Bluff; two sisters, Beverly Lowery (Raymond), Melonee Cooper (Tim), both of DeQuincy; seven grandchildren, Brock Evan Dennis, Drew Addison Hyatt, Piper Jade Hyatt, Ava Rose Scott, Lyla Claire Scott, Nolan Winston Scott, and Winnie LeAnn Scott.

Services will be held at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 11:00am, with Pastor Wayne Neyland and Pastor Jerry Snider officiating. Visitation will be at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy on Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will resume at the Church on Monday, from 9:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields, LA.
