After a three-month investigation, five people have been arrested in relation to a rash of ATM burglaries in the area.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said early Monday morning detectives received information pertaining to individuals in the area possibly committing an ATM theft.

She said detectives set up surveillance at a local bank on Nelson Road when they observed several suspects attempting to steal cash out of an ATM.

“A fully marked CPSO deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspects when they were leaving the bank at which time the suspects fled in a truck, which was later discovered to be stolen,” Vincent said. “A brief vehicle pursuit ensued and the suspects ultimately fled on foot from the truck.”

She said later the same day, detectives arrested  Caleb C. Jones, 28,  Caylon L. Johnson, 28, and Ajalon J. Baker, 26, all of Houston; Araneisha D. Victor, 22, of Katy, Texas; and Jeremy M. Spiller, 32, of Galena Park, Texas.

They were all booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

Jones, Johnson and Baker are charged with attempted theft from $5,000 to $25,000; simple criminal damage to property $1,000 to $5,000; theft of a motor vehicle $5,000 to $25.000; and criminal conspiracy.

Victor and Spiller are charged with accessory after the fact; and possession of marijuana.

It was also discovered Baker has a warrant out of Arkansas for ATM burglaries and Johnson, who is on parole in Texas, violated his parole by crossing state lines.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. Det. Jill Feverjean is the lead investigator on this case.
