Roberta Iris Allen, 79, a resident of Westlake, La., passed peacefully from this life on Sept. 21, 2021, in the comfort of her home.

Roberta will forever be remembered as a loving mother, nana, and sister. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles for many years. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing with her family. Roberta loved to attend events at the Senior Center and excelled when playing bingo. During her working years, she was employed by the American Cancer Society and ultimately retired from the Morehouse Parish School Board as a Special Education Paraprofessional.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Allen; parents, Robert and Pauline Fitzsimmons Shirley; mother of heart, Ilva Grace Shirley; son, Jeffrey Andrew Allen; and sister, Sue Ellen Cavender.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Anna McKeigan and Stephanie Darbonne and husband Dwayne; son, Joshua Scott Allen and wife Becky; grandchildren, Sarah, Corey, Mason, Kristen, Cody, Heather; and two great-grandchildren;  brother, Steven Shirley; sister, Tommie June Gillies and husband Bruce; and brother-in-law, Steve Cavender.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Sept. 27, 2021, from 11 a.m. until time of service in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. The Rev. Weldon Bares will officiate. As per her wishes, cremation will follow the service.
