Edna  Howard Doucette

Edna Howard Doucette “Big Momma” passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.  She was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Lafayette, La., to the late Virginia Lambert and James Howard. She was a faithful member of Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ where she served as an usher, choir member, and prayer warrior.  She worked for the Police Dept for 10 years and the Sheriff Department for 28 years.  She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughters, Virginia Hunter, Theresa Myles, Consatta Lafleur, Ella Mae London, Ernestine King (Enos), Augustine Aaron (Jay), Arline Brown (Bonus), and Earline Devones (Kim); 31 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 31great-great-grandchildren, 1 great great great grandchild, Markaylon Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister Josephine Howard; brother Samuel Howard; sister-in-law Mabel Howard; and  grandchild Aaron Myles.

Her visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, from 9 a.m. with her funeral following at 11 a.m., at Word of Hope, Pastor Charlie Williams.  Pastor Michael Cuba Jr. will officiate.  Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park.
