Lillian Marie Washington, 107, passed away on Sept. 18, 2021, peacefully and surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Carencro, the daughter of Julian Comeaux and Cora Matthews Comeaux, she and her husband, Adam Washington, moved to Westlake in 1944, where they were among the founding members of the community. Lillian served as not only matriarch to five generations but as a mentor and role model for friends and neighbors over nearly 80 years.

Known to many as “The Fig Pie Lady”, Lillian worked in many roles and organizations that brought positive impacts to the local community and to St John Bosco Catholic Church. She was a church trustee,  and a member of the Ladies Altar Society for many years. She was designated as a Companion of Honor by the Bishop of the Archdiocese of Lake Charles and took great pride in bringing new converts to Catholicism. She was a member of the Autumn Leaves Club and was honored and delighted to serve as Queen Evangeline for the club’s 2000 Mardi Gras Ball.

Lillian joins her husband Adam; her son, Gerald Washington; her grandson, Joseph Adam Washington Jr.; and her siblings, Sedalice, Julia, Vivian, Barbara, Pelton, Julius, Edmond, John Roosevelt, Beatrice, Mary Louise, and  Louela May;  who preceded her in death. She leaves behind her children, Mary Louise, Mary Lou, Joseph, Sharon, and Catherine; as well as one sister, Mary Ruth to mourn her passing.   She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews,  and friends who remain ever grateful for the humor, infectious joy, and outspoken honesty that she brought into their lives.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. John Bosco Catholic Church.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2021 St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake.  Burial will be in Westlake Memorial Park under the direction of Stevens’ Funeral Home. A private family visitation will be Friday, 11 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at Stevens’ Funeral Home  with strict Covid Precautions in place. Masks required.
