She said admission is free for attendees but there is a $25 fee for those entering their vehicles.

“That registration fee goes toward the scholarship program and the event registration includes a free meal and a commemorative T-shirt,” she said.

Pre-registration is available online at www.sowela.edu/give/carshow or vehicles can be registered the day of the event.

“What we have learned from our car show community is that a lot of them wait until the day of because they have spectacular vehicles that they want to preserve so they are certainly closely watching the weather, but we hope for 150 cars or more,” she said.

Awards will be given for People’s Choice and the Chancellor’s Choice.

Pepper said Sowela culinary arts students will be preparing lunch items and Coca-Cola has donated beverages and will be sponsoring a new beverage tasting booth.

Families can also take pictures with Sowela’s mascot, Ace, as well as a hot rod built by Sowela students and a plane.

“We hope our community will want to come out and support the college and spend time together at this outdoor event,” Pepper said.
