JENNINGS —  A third person has been arrested in connection with the double homicide of a Lacassine couple in 2018.

Kyra Todriana Shillow, 25, of Lake Charles was arrested Wednesday in connection with the investigation into the slaying of 72-year-old Walter Gotreaux and his wife, Darlene Cecilia Gotreaux, 70, according to Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Ivey.

Shillow was arrested by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police on a warrant for accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. The warrant was issued Aug. 28 in the 31st Judicial District Court in Jennings.

She is being held in the Jeff Davis Parish Jail without bond.

The couple were found fatally shot in the bedroom of their home on U.S. 90 in Lacassine on Dec. 16, 2018 by deputies conducting a welfare check called in by a concerned neighbor who could not reach them by phone.

Authorities said the couple had been shot multiple times inside the home in what they say was a robbery.

Javari Wayne Guidry, 25, of Houston and Jordan Alexander Legros, 23, of Welsh were arrested in late December 2018 for the murder of the couple. Both men pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges in March 2019 after being indicted by a grand jury in 2019.

The pair had some connection to the victims through associates, including contacts with people who were close to the victims, according to investigators.

Guidry and Legros were initially charged with two counts of first-degree murder, but the grand jury determined the case fit second-degree murder, according to then District Attorney Michael Cassidy.

Under Louisiana law, first-degree murder occurs when an offender has the specific intent to kill or greatly injure someone during the process of committing an armed robbery, aggravated burglary or other offense.

A second-degree murder occurs when the offender has the specific intent to kill or greatly harm, or unintentionally kills someone while committing a serious crime

Guidry is set for trial Nov. 15. Legros is set for trial on Sept. 20 in connection with a separate burglary arrest in 2017.

If convicted of second-degree murder, the men face automatic life sentences without benefit of probation or parole.
