Mozelle Walker Sonnier

Mozelle Walker Sonnier, 94, of Lake Charles passed away at 12:38 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021 in her residence.

Mrs. Sonnier was born on January 12, 1927 in Welsh where she was raised.  She moved to Reeves before settling in Lake Charles in 1952.  She enjoyed her life as a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and caregiver.  Mrs. Sonnier took pleasure in gardening, sewing, canning, collecting antiques, and listening to Elvis Presley.  She belonged to a bowling league and in her spare time liked to spend time with her family at the country home in Reeves or at the camp on Bundick Lake.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Susan Singleton of Lake Charles; the late Tracy Sonnier as of Sept. 1, 2021; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and H.M. Walker; sons, Ralph Douglas and Guy Stephen Sonnier; and siblings, Willis, Benton, and Wilma.

Funeral services, along with her son’s services, will be held at 11 a.m on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021 in Creel Memorial Chapel in Bel, La. at Camp Pearl.  The Rev. Glenn Ducharme will officiate.  Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the University Baptist Church and will resume in Creel Memorial Chapel on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.
