Louise Leonards Heinen

VINTON – Louise Leonards Heinen, age 76, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 in her residence surrounded by her family. Louise was born January 9, 1945 in Rayne, LA to her late parents, William & Rose Leonards.

She was a native of Crowley and graduated from St. Michael’s Catholic School. Louise and her husband Lawrence relocated to Vinton in 1973 to farm rice and crawfish. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Catholic Daughters and Lay Carmelites. Louise enjoyed traveling, especially group pilgrimages with family and friends. She also enjoyed quilting, painting, and creating family traditions with her grandkids who affectionately called her “Oma”.

Louise is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence W. Heinen; her parents; her brothers, Gregory Leonards and Alfred Leonards; and nephew, Karl Leonards.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Rosalind (Jon) Dalberg of Denham Springs, William (Britnee) Heinen of Vinton, Eric (Shannon) Heinen of Vinton, Laurie (Matthew) McNally of Lake Charles; her siblings, Audrey McBride, Lucille Chisholm, Judy Hoffpauir, Stephen Leonards, Lawrence Leonards, Albert Leonards, William “Bill” Leonards Jr.; her grandchildren, Luke Dalberg, Jack Dalberg, Jane Dalberg, Cameron Simpson, Cade Simpson, Corey Simpson, Anna Heinen, Sarah Heinen, Cecilia Heinen, Claire Heinen, Drew Heinen, Lauren Heinen, Nathaniel McNally, Eleanor McNally, Timothy McNally; great-grandchildren, Jonnie & Jessie Simpson; and her beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Visitation will be from 8-11 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton with a Rosary at 10 a.m. Burial will be on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 9 a.m. in St. Leo IV Catholic Cemetery in Robert’s Cove, LA.
