Robert Edward Hawkins

On Sunday, August 22nd, 2021, Robert Edward Hawkins passed away peacefully in his sleep. Robert “Robbie” Hawkins was born in Queens, New York, NY, on May 30, 1955 to Geneva Hawkins of Lake Charles, LA. He was the first of ten children. He graduated from Sam Houston High School and attended McNeese State University. Robbie worked for Motion Industries as an Outside Salesman for 37 years before retiring in 2015. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he served as Secretary for many years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 39 years, Josephine Hawkins of Lake Charles; son Carey Sweet of Lake Charles; daughters Amber (Richard) Jones of Manvel, Texas; and Kaylyn Hawkins (Chris Taylor) of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren Eric “Mookie” Dupas Jr., Keijah Dupas, Kerianna Sweet, Carey Sweet Jr, Ava and Ian Jones; five brothers Darrell Robinson, Jethro Robinson II, Adrian (Angela) Robinson, Ezra Robinson, and Chadwick (Konisha) Robinson; adopted brother, Carl (Vickie) White and his chosen brother, Alton Scott; four sisters Deborah (Jeff) Guidry, Barbara Williams, Aundrea (Gerard) Guillory, and Marie Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends. Robbie also leaves behind his beloved mother, Geneva Robinson.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jethro Robinson Sr.
Eagle One will take his final flight Thursday, August 26th, 2021. Services will be held at New Covenant Faith Baptist Church, 2233 12th Street, Lake Charles, LA. Visitation will be held from 9am to 11am with funeral services to immediately follow. Arrangements are being handled by Fondel Memorial Chapel.
Due to concerns regarding COVID 19, the family will be enforcing the Governor’s current mask mandate during visitation and services.
