Now that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted full approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for people age 16 and over, the vaccine has been added to the to the schedule of required immunizations at all University of Louisiana System member institutions for entering and continuing students.
What does this mean?
Currently enrolled students must provide documentation of immunization against COVID-19 prior to the spring registration period.
Like all required immunizations, students shall not be compelled to comply if the student submits a written statement from a physician stating the vaccine is contraindicated for medical reasons or if the student submits a written dissent (waiver).
Also, like all required immunizations, upon recommendation by the Office of Public Health, unvaccinated students may be excluded from attendance in the event of an outbreak.
McNeese State University students will be notified when the form to upload their COVID-19 immunization record or to submit a waiver for the COVID-19 vaccine is posted to the MyMcNeese Portal.
