Don Anthony Sylvester

Don Anthony Sylvester, 60, of Westlake, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021 at his residence after a brief illness.

He was born to his late parents, Anthony and Sybil Sylvester on April 28, 1961 in Lake Charles, La. He graduated from Barbe High School and later worked at McNeese University in the maintenance department. He was the bass player for the local band, Loose Change. He loved his spoiled rotten cat, Misty. Don was an avid Rush fan. He had a green thumb, a great garden, and kept yards immaculate for lots of people. Don loved decorating for Christmas with his mom, especially setting up his Christmas tree and village. In his younger days, he enjoyed assembling model airplanes which he proudly displayed.

He is survived by three brothers, Kenneth Sylvester and Michael Sylvester, both of Albuquerque, N.M., Terry Sylvester of Moss Bluff; one sister, Patricia Hedrick of Dutch John, Utah, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was especially close to his nephew, Chris Sylvester and his wife, Regina, of Alexandria, La.

Don was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Sybil and Wes Williams; father, Tony Sylvester; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Levingston.

A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
