Mary Alice Boutte was born on June 19, 1931, in Opelousas, La.  She was called to eternal rest on Aug. 11, 2021.  Mary was baptized as an infant into the Catholic Church and was a devout Catholic her entire life.   She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Lake Charles, La. for over 35 years. She was a member of Ladies of Auxiliary, member of the Altar Society, leader of the Women Prayer Group in her home, a coordinator of baked goods for the Fall Church Bazaar, and a participant in the Annual Women Conference.   She enjoyed providing meals for the Priests and staff at St. Henry.  Mary was also a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Houston, Texas where she lived for the past 13 years of her life.  Mary served as an Auxiliary Member of the Legion of Mary at St. Andrews.

There are so many virtues that could be used to describe Mary.  The most obvious ones would be giver, kindhearted, compassionate, and loving.  Her nickname was Sweetie because she was so kind to everyone that God put in her path. She was a Prayer Warrior that enjoyed praying daily for all her family, friends, and anyone she met that needed prayers. Her favorite phrase was to remind everyone to “Pray more and worry less!”  She was a virtuous woman who worked hard, gave generously, and showed love and care to everyone.

Mary’s life was a living example of the Christian journey.   She fed those who were hungry, she clothed those who needed to be clothed, and she provided shelter for those in need.  Her various jobs included working alongside her husband in their mom-and-pop store- Boutte’s Meat Market, cooking in several restaurants, working in the deli at Kroger, being a sitter for the elderly, and catering for schools and private events.  Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, and shopping.
