RA: Lake Charles College Prep’s Curley Reed played football for the first time last season and posted 39 tackles, an interception and three pass breakups as a sophomore. The 6-foot-2 junior has four-star ranking from 247sports.com and multiple Power Five teams following his progress.

Which big school has the top secondary?

WA: Iowa will have a pair of four-year starters in Brycen Leblanc and Crajaun Bennett.

Leblanc will direct the secondary from his free safety post while Bennett is a speedy college prospect who can play corner or safety.

RA: LCCP’s secondary will be tough to get past. In addition to Reed, the Trailblazers have Joe Ward (31 tackles), who is committed to McNeese State and can play safety or corner, plus Kevin Thomas (40 tackles), another potential Division I player.

Which small school has the strongest secondary?

WA: Kinder. The Yellow Jackets boast an impressive group, which includes Landon Schmitz, Griffin Cooley, Brayden Guillory, James Roberts and Chris Soileau.

RA: Grand Lake returns three secondary members — juniors Connor Guillotte, Nate Murrell and Kent Zaunbrecher. The Hornets’ secondary limited opponents to 80 passing yards a game and picked off nine passes while reaching the Class 1A final.
