We’ve got some ideas for you that will not only give you an opportunity to make fun memories with your family, but also support great causes.

Wheels of Hope Charity Bike Ride: The fundraiser starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at St. Theodore Holy Family Catholic School in Moss Bluff. Routes will start at Holy Family, wind through Sam Houston Jones State Park and finish at the school. Race options include five- and 10-mile family routes and a 75-mile route for experienced bicyclists. Advanced registration is $35 for adults and $15 for children at active.com. Race-day registration will be 6:30-7:45 a.m. and will cost $40 for adults and $20 for children. All proceeds benefit the St. Nicholas Center for Children, which provides services for children with autism and developmental delays.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: The walk begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Heritage Square in Sulphur. The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about one in eight, according to the American Cancer Society. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 36. There are more than 2.9 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. Making Strides participants raise awareness and funds to do the most for people with breast cancer today and find cures to end the disease tomorrow.

Gator 100 Go-Kart Race: The race kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Lake Charles Civic Center, where drivers will race 100 half-mile laps around the grounds. Attendance is $10 for adults; $7 for seniors, McNeese students with a valid student ID and veterans; $5 for children ages 3-12; and free for children under 3. Parking is free. The race is set up with three heats — a 50-lap open heat, followed by a 30-lap semifinal heat and a 20-lap championship heat. Awards will be given after each heat to the first, second and third place finishers. All net proceeds from the gate will be donated to the Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission, which serves our area veterans.
