WELSH — Police Chief Marcus Crochet dismissed reports Thursday that he had resigned from the office he has held for a year.

“I have not given a letter to the mayor or the secretary of state,” Crochet told the American Press.

Mayor Carolyn Louviere said Crochet had a letter of resignation to turn in Thursday, but that it had not been properly notarized.

“He passed by my office this morning and had it, but he had to go get it notarized to turn in,” she said. “He has not given it to me yet.”

Louviere said she begged Crochet not to turn the resignation in.
