WEST MONROE (AP) — A 68-year-old West Monroe woman faces a charge of cruelty to a juvenile.

The News-Star reported Donna P. Buels was arrested late Tuesday night.

Police said they spoke with a 15-year-old girl who said her grandmother — identified as Buels — pushed her, grabbed her by the face and slapped her with an open hand.

Police said they saw red marks on the girl’s face and the inside of her top lip was bleeding. Buels told police she grabbed the girl by the hair and pushed her, but did not remember slapping the girl.

Buels was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center.

It was unclear whether Buels has an attorney.
