Sulphur main break causes water outage

Last Modified: Wednesday, February 06, 2013 7:42 PM

From staff reports

A break in a water main in Sulphur near the intersection of Cypress and Hickory streets could have effect a large area of the city into nighttime hours.

John Bruce, director of public works, said the break occurred when crews were performing routine maintenance, and city crews are currently on site attempting to assess the problem.

Bruce said water will be shut off, or severely restricted, in the immediate area of the leak itself into the night house and city wide residents may see lower water pressure than normal.

He said the problem is expected to be fixed sometime tonight, but crews won’t know for certain until they are finished assessing the break.
