Elton man charged with burglary

A 20-year-old Elton man has been charged with simple burglary, authorities said.
Christopher Ivey, with the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Office, said David Eldridge Ortego was arrested and accused breaking into the Elton Housing Authority at 415 Lafleur St.
“Ortego gained entry by removing the air-conditioning window unit,” Ivey said Wednesday in a news release. “The A/C unit was damaged during break-in. Once inside apartment, Ortego gained access to computer and utilized internet services to search websites.
“Ortego admitted to the break-in during questioning.”
