Crash in Vernon Parish kills New Llano man

LEESVILLE (AP) — A two-vehicle crash in Vernon Parish has claimed the life of a 42-year-old New Llano man.
State police say James Tipper was pronounced dead at Rapides Regional Medical Center at 12:19 p.m. Thursday. The crash occurred at around 7:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 171 near Leesville.
Troopers say Tipper was southbound when he slowed to turn right onto Leach Road and was hit by a southbound Nissan pickup.
The driver of the pickup was not injured.
