Lake Charles Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said that two men have been charged with failure to register as a sex offender in the last week.
Kraus said 38-year-old Jason Ture Hendrickson was arrested early Tuesday morning while 50-year-old Michael Ray Lyons was arrested on July 10.
“Hendrickson traveled to our office where he met with Detective M. Nicosia,” Kraus said. “During the interview, it was learned Hendrickson had been in Louisiana prior to July 1 due to an outstanding arrest warrant from Colorado for failure to register as a sex offender.
“We verified that Hendrickson has a Lake Charles address and has not registered as required by state law.” Hendrickson was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1995 while living in Minnesota, Kraus said. Hendrickson is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Hendrickson’s bond was set at $75,000 by Judge Ron Ware.
Kraus said Lyons was convicted of possession of child pornography in 2007, which means Lyons must register for 25 years.
“On July 10, Detective Nicosia met with Lyons and verified that Lyons’ Sex Offender had expired,” Kraus said.
Lyons’ bond was set at $10,000 by Judge Michael Canaday.
