The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is monitoring temperatures and cloud cover today. Clouds are expected to erode and move out this afternoon, starting in southeast Texas, and extend across southwest, south central, and central Louisiana.
Temperatures will warm to the mid to upper 30s this afternoon region-wide, getting above the freezing mark between 11 am and 2 pm. Roads and bridges that have more ice will take longer to thaw this afternoon. Temperatures tonight are forecasted to fall below freezing this evening, and reach the low to mid 20s by Thursday morning.
If any roads or bridges are still wet this evening, they could re-freeze overnight.
The decision on classes tomorrow in Cameron Parish will be announced following the 2:30 p.m. National Weather Service advisory, and a discussion with Cameron Parish OEP and the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Department,on projected travel safety tomorrow.
The decision on classes tomorrow in Calcasieu Parish will be decided after the 2:30 p.m. Calcasieu Parish OEP meeting.
