Lake Charles Little Theatre will celebrate the musical side of its 86 years onstage with “On with the Show,” a revue comprising songs from that rich history. The production is the first installment of the four-play 2012-2013 season.

The show will open Saturday, Sept. 8, and repeat on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Sept. 23. Sunday performances are at 2 p.m.; others are at 7:30 p.m.

The playlist will include songs from the 1920s up to “Grease,” which was done in 1978, Randy Partin, director of “On with the Show,” said. A few of the songs: “I’m Just a Girl Who Can’t Say No,” “Take Back Your Mink,” “Always a Bridesmaid,” “Do Re Mi” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”

“We’ve had a lot of fun doing these popular numbers. Some songs have been used in multiple productions,” he said. “They are without a central theme other than their popularity. We plan to start our season this way every year.”

In future years the theater will select a theme and choose music that fits the theme.

Each year’s programs are picked by a play selection committee, he said.

This will be Partin’s directorial debut, though he has experience as an assistant director.

“I have been very active on stage for the last 10 years, in both musicals and nonmusicals, and have done nearly everything, including set building,” he said.

Assistant director is Joseph Frazier; Tony James is musical director.

Cast members are Heather Partin, Joseph Frazier, Tony James, Lilly Guilbeau, Christopher Jacko, Hailey Blackwelder, Monica Mere, Missy Shaw-Brown, Chris Sarver, Kirsten Ervin, Jazmin Mason, Shireen Santhansamy, Jean Goodwin, Julian Quebedeaux and Courtney Howard.
