Hundreds attend fallen deputy’s funeral
Several hundred friends, family members and law enforcement officers gathered at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Saturday, Jan. 21, to pay respects to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Randall Lee Benoit. Benoit, 41, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, from injuries he received in a four-vehicle crash on La. 27 in Carlyss. A common theme heard from speakers at the service were Benoit’s dedication to his career, his valued friendship and his comedic nature and ability to keep people laughing regardless of the setting.
