A woman has been charged with attempted first-degree murder in relation to a Westlake police officer who was struck by a vehicle last week, authorities said.
Marlena Narcisse, 33, hit an officer attempting to apprehend her, Westlake Capt. Jack Bartlett said in a news release.
The police offer was investigating a disturbance on Flowers Street on Oct. 9, Bartlett said. Narcisse fled the scene in her vehicle, hitting the officer, Bartlett said.
She was later apprehended without incident, he said.
The officer was treated at a local hospital and released, Bartlett said.
Narcisse, who is also charged with resisting a police officer and entry in or remaining in places after being forbidden, is being held at Calcasieu Correctional Center on $280,000 bond.
