A Westlake couple is facing charges after a man allegedly bit two young boys, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said 31-year-old Brandon L. Sullivan and 27-year-old Christy Willhite were charged with two counts of cruelty to a juvenile.

“On Sept. 6, detectives were dispatched to a Sulphur elementary school after receiving a call from the Department of Children and Family Services,” Myers said Monday in a news release. “Detectives observed a 6-year-old boy with numerous marks and remnants of duct tape all over his body.”

Sullivan, a family member, reportedly used the tape to bind the boy’s hands, wrists and ankles and also put duct tape around his head.

Authorities accused Sullivan of physically abusing a 7-year-old family member by biting the boy in the chest area.

Willhite, Sullivan’s girlfriend, is also a family member of the boys, authorities said.

“When questioned by detectives, Sullivan confirmed he tied the 6-year-old up with duct tape and bit both boys in the chest area,” Myers said. “Willhite confirmed to detectives that she had witnessed the incidents and failed to report them.”

Judge Clayton Davis set Sullivan’s bond at $400,000 and Willhite’s at $200,000.

Myers said the boys were removed from the home by state officials.
