JENNINGS — A commercial exploration and production waste disposal facility in rural Jefferson Davis Parish is seeking a new injection well permit from the state.Phil Thibodeaux, district manager for MBO Lacassine Oilfield Services, told the Police Jury on Wednesday that the company plans to seek the permit from the state Department of Natural Resources.
“We are going to put in a permit application to drill a new injection well on the property. By doing so we will help treat materials a lot quicker,” Thibodeaux said. “It should also help eliminate the odors if we can get the water on the materials and get it treated.”
The permit process is expected to take from six months to a year to complete, Thibodeaux said. The facility is on a 100-plus-acre site on Gro Racca Road, just off La. 101.
The facility, which has been operating since 2008, accepts drilling fluids, production sludge, contaminated soil, completion fluids, other oil exploration and production fluids, and salt water.
Since the permit is considered a minor modification, no public hearing is required unless someone requests one, Thibodeaux said. The company already operates two injection wells. The new well will be 6,200 feet deep.
The state approved company plans in 2007 to reopen the closed oilfield-waste-treatment facility, despite public protest.
The decision allowed the company to move forward with plans to build and operate two injection wells and reopen the commercial exploration and production waste facility.
Since that time, the company has come under fire from nearby residents, who complain of foul odors coming from the facility, pollution and health issues.
They also argue that the company has a history of regulatory violations and criminal activity and has tried to deceive the public by hiding who the true owners are.
They have also accused the company of improper monitoring and sampling at the facility.

Title: Inject This
One more thing........If you could increase your income by 33%, or they can increase production by 33%, would you call that a minor modification? And the stink and foul odors coming from the facility...........well yeah it will get better, just as soon as they can dump it 6000+ feet underground..........won't be long and they will be asking for a fourth, and a fifth, and a sixth and so on..........

Title: Inject This
So they're looking to pump more sludge and waste into the ground to get rid of it...............I mean really, you got to get rid of it somehow and somewhere, but not in our backyard..........but of course who's backyard and who's doing the dumping.........seems to me like the EPA really needs to come and check this out.............do they even exist anymore, didn't Bush and CHEYNY nearly render that agency ineffective just so waste could be dumped like this...........
